MONTGOMERY, Ala. – On Wednesday, Chancellor Jimmy H. Baker announced the appointment of Dr. Coretta Boykin as President of Reid State Technical College. Boykin has served the college in various capacities for the past 17 years.

Dr. Boykin currently serves as the Dean of Instruction and Workforce Development, a position she has held since 2018. Her previous roles at the college include Assistant Dean of Institutional Effectiveness, Director of Recruitment, Placement and Retention, Office Administrator, in addition to serving as an instructor.

“Dr. Boykin has been an instrumental member of the Reid State team for many years and her proven leadership coupled with her knowledge of the college make her the perfect choice to serve as President,” Chancellor Baker said. “Dr. Boykin’s commitment to the community goes far beyond the walls of Reid State and the students, faculty, and staff will be well-served by her leadership.”

Dr. Boykin earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce and Business Administration from the University of Alabama.  She received a Master of Business Administration from Troy University and completed her Doctorate in Higher Education Administration from the University of Alabama. Boykin serves as chairman of the Conecuh County Board of Education and is active in both the Evergreen Kiwanis Club and the Evergreen-Conecuh Chamber of Commerce.

“Reid State is a special place that has provided life-changing education and training to the residents of Evergreen and the surrounding communities for the past 58 years,” said Dr. Boykin. “It is an honor and a privilege to continue to serve the students, faculty, staff and community at Reid State and I’m eager to hit the ground running as we prepare our students for success in the workforce and beyond.”

Dr. Boykin’s tenure as President at Reid State Technical College will begin on May 1, 2021.
