SUMMARY:Illuminations: Art That Makes the Spirit Soar
DESCRIPTION:The Evelyn Burrow Museum at Wallace State Community College announces the opening of “Illuminations: Art that Makes the Spirit Soar.” \nThe collection features illuminated manuscripts and other works of devotion from the Renaissance to modern day from the Birmingham Museum of Art\, St. Bernard Abbey\, Sacred Heart\, private collections and the Burrow Museum’s permanent collection. Included in the exhibition are illuminated manuscripts\, some more than 500 years old\, as well as stained glass\, textiles\, paintings\, relics and other works. \nThe exhibit will be on display through May 31. DESCRIPTION:The Wallace State Community College Fine and Performing Arts program will present “Stars Fell on Alabama: Music That Inspired a Southern State” at 7 p.m.\, Thursday-Saturday\, May 2-4 at the Betty Leeth Haynes Theatre. \nCelebrating Alabama’s Bicentennial\, this original production honors the music created in or inspired by the state of Alabama and celebrates Alabama entertainers who have left their mark on the world. The show will feature the Wallace State Singers\, Concert Choir\, Vocal Jazz Ensemble\, Jazz Band\, Concert Band and Wallace State Theatre.
