Thousands of jobs are available in Alabama’s automotive manufacturing industry and the ACCS is helping increase qualified candidates through the Alabama STRONG initiative. Community colleges in 10 counties are offering nationally recognized, industry-endorsed certifications that offer both entry-level and incumbent workers the opportunity to demonstrate they have the skills needed for today’s technology-intensive workplace.

Available Training

Through the Alabama STRONG initiative the ACCS is offering innovative skills-based education and training programs that lead to national industry-recognized credentials, including:

MSSC Certificate Program?

The Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC) is the nation’s leading industry-led training, assessment, and certification organization focused on the core technical competencies needed by the nation’s front-line production and material handling workers.

Certified Production Technician (CPT)

Addresses the core technical competencies of higher production workers in all sectors of manufacturing. Certificates are awarded in:

  • Safety
  • Quality
  • Manufacturing Processes and Production
  • Maintenance Awareness

Certified Logistics Technician (CLT)

Addresses the core technical competencies of higher skilled, front-line material handling workers in all supply chain facilities: in factories, warehouses, distribution centers, and transportation companies. Certificates are awarded in:

  • Foundational-Level Certified Logistics Associate (CLA) ® Certificate
  • Mid-Level Technical CLT Certification (CLT)

Ready to Work

Alabama’s Ready to Work program provides a career pathway for individuals with limited

employment experience. Ready to Work’s workplace environment provides trainees the entry-level skills required for employment with most businesses and industries in Alabama.

The Ready to Work curriculum consists of 6 training modules. Certificates awarded are:

  • National Career Readiness Certificate – issued by ACT
  • Alabama Certified Work Certificate – issued by AIDT
