We ended #NationalTransferWeek with the Trojan Warrior Spirit at Troy University, where we met up with a recruiter and an Enterprise State Community College alum to talk about the transfer experience.

Korrie Lynn James, Troy University’s Coordinator of Dual Enrollment and Transfer Recruiting, said a large number of transfer students at the Troy campus come from ESCC, Wallace Community College and Lurleen B. Wallace Community College fully prepared with a game plan to help them succeed.

“We love our transfer students from the Alabama Community College System. They’re some of our best students on campus. They come knowing what they want to major in, knowing their game plan, when they want to graduate and what their long-term goals are so they have great success here on campus.”

An interesting element of this visit was how students get word on the colleges in their communities. Josh McClure, Enterprise State Community College alum and current Troy University student studying Business, was a nontraditional student (he started at ESCC three years after high school graduation) who lived in Troy, but didn’t attend college until he received a letter in mail inviting him to consider ESCC.

Now Josh still lives in Troy and loves the fact that campus is five minutes away, but he is also thankful for his first couple years of college happening at ESCC. He was especially thankful for the academic advising through Student Support Services and the relationships he was able to build with friends and students.
