Course Description:

The Quality Control Inspector (QCI) course is based on a U.S. Department of Energy Job Task Analysis (JTA)1 of the same name. The course is broken down into two days of instruction focusing on the job description/duties outlined in the JTA. Students will be exposed to, and practice skills needed to become a successful QCI. These skills include conducting a review of required documentation, verifying the work performed against the work plan, observing in-process retrofit work, understanding specifications and standards, performing building and safety diagnostics, recording/reporting findings and concerns, and specifying corrective actions. This course prepares qualified students for the BPI Home Energy Professional Quality Control Inspector Certification Exam.

State-of-the-art technology is used in the classroom to provide students with a high-quality learning environment. Students will get feedback about learning progress by taking quizzes throughout the course. Students will take one written test. Upon successful completion of the test, each student will receive a certificate of completion.

Delivery Format:

This is a lecture-based course. Topics will be presented in a classroom setting and then followed up with student involvement in group discussions and activities. The class will be geared towards those who have had experience in the field as Energy Auditors or were previously QCI certified. Student participation is very important. Testing for this course will involve a written test.

Note: the BPI Home Energy Professional Certification is a separate test with an additional fee.
