Professional Development

The Alabama Adult Education Department, in partnership with the Alabama Community College System, is deeply committed to equipping all Adult Education teachers, directors, and staff with opportunities for continuous professional growth. Recognizing the importance of lifelong learning, we strive to ensure that our educators have access to the resources and training needed to enhance their skills and elevate student success.

Under the outstanding leadership of Vice Chancellor Davis Walters and Dr. Terri Dunn, the department has successfully implemented a comprehensive Professional Development Series throughout the year. These sessions are thoughtfully designed to address key areas of concern in Adult Education, ensuring that our educators remain informed, innovative, and effective in the classroom.

By participating in these professional development seminars, our teachers have the invaluable opportunity to learn from some of the brightest minds in the field. These sessions foster collaboration, inspire new teaching strategies, and reinforce best practices that drive student achievement. Ultimately, our commitment to educator development directly contributes to the growth and success of the students we serve.

ACCS Systemwide Professional Development

For the first time, the Alabama Community College System hosted a systemwide Professional Development Day for the more than 1,600 faculty and staff members committed to improving the lives of our students each and every day. Ideas were shared and connections were made as the ACCS Family enjoyed a day of strategy to continue our Laser Focus on the student experience. Here’s a snapshot of all that occurred on April 10. A sincere thanks to Alabama State University for allowing us to transform the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.
