U.S. Secret Service Small Detail Familiarization Course (Dignitary/Executive Protection)
Course Goal:
Dignitary/Executive Protection for high-profile individuals such as corporate executives, government officials, celebrities, and other VIPs is of the utmost importance. These individuals are at risk of kidnapping, cyber threats, physical harm, stalking, and intimidation due to their positions held or celebrity status. These threats weigh heavily on these individuals regarding their business decisions, individual governmental function decisions, and how they live their daily lives. These individuals often travel to high-risk areas or engage in public engagements that make them vulnerable to these kinds of threats. This course, in conjunction with the U.S. Secret Service’s Protective Operations Division, highlights why dignitary/executive protection is important and familiarizes the individual officer with terminology, concepts of operation, and techniques regarding these types of operations.
Course Objective:
This one-day, 8-hour course is intended to familiarize law enforcement officers with small-scale dignitary / executive protection operation details involving security and logistical support to high-profile individuals such as government officials, diplomats, visiting foreign dignitaries, celebrities, and other VIPs. It includes an overview of dignitary/executive protective operation terms and concepts and includes planning/execution considerations for those assigned to those details protecting individuals who may be at risk of threats, including terrorism, intimidation, kidnapping, and possible assassination.
