About Ingram State
In 1965, Ingram State Community College was established with the aim of offering exceptional opportunities. Recently, the college developed the Alabama Prison-to-Workforce Pipeline, a comprehensive five-phase process designed to enhance the prospects of successful reentry into society for its students. The five phases are as follows:
- Enroll: Incarcerated individuals are encouraged to enroll in high-wage, high-demand career technical courses within 10 years from their end of sentence or parole date.
- Educate: Students undergo education from industry experts, covering a diverse range of 19 training programs and apprenticeships.
- Engage: Students actively participate in work-based learning opportunities provided by Alabama Correctional Industries (ACI) in field-related positions.
- Employ: The ISTC Re-Entry team helps individuals gain employment in their skill fields through the ADOC Work-Release centers.
- Exit: Upon release from prison, individuals receive support from the ISTC Job Placement, which helps them secure in-field careers and provides the necessary resources and tools for their success.
