Short-Term Credential Scholarship Program Grant

Purpose

The Short-Term Credential Scholarship Program Grant is available for Alabama residents to seek reimbursement of expenses associated with enrollment and completion of a short-term credential program (for credit and non-credit) offered by institutions within the Alabama Community College System. The short-term credential program must be completed in two semesters or less and must be listed as an occupation of interest on the Alabama Committee on Credentialing and Career Pathways (ACCCP) list for the region in which the community college where the course is taken is listed. Eligible students will receive reimbursement up to $4,500 toward qualifying educational expenses associated with the short-term credential program, including tuition, fees, books, credentialing fees, materials, and supplies. The student must pay for all costs upfront and will be reimbursed upon completion of the short-term training program. The short-term training program must be completed within one year of the course start date to be eligible for reimbursement.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be an Alabama resident

  • Be registered or intend to register in an eligible short-term credential program that can be completed in two semesters or less and that will lead to in-demand career opportunities in the region which the community college where the course is taken is located
