Expanded relationship leverages Blackboard’s holistic EdTech ecosystem of solutions and services

MONTGOMERY – The Alabama Community College System (ACCS) and Blackboard Inc. together announced today that they have expanded their relationship to improve and enhance the student experience for 11 ACCS Colleges. This will create a consistent teaching and learning platform for all students at 11 ACCS colleges through the 2024 academic year.

These 11 colleges will leverage the benefits of Blackboard’s next-generation cloud learning management system (LMS), Blackboard Learn with the Ultra experience, which delivers a simple, powerful teaching and learning experience. They will also leverage the other student success focused solutions and services within Blackboard’s holistic EdTech ecosystem including analytics, virtual classroom, accessibility, IT help desk, analytics-driven retention coaching and professional development software and solutions.

In addition, ACCS is using Blackboard’s accessibility solution, Blackboard Ally (Ally), across 23 of the system’s colleges. Ally focuses on making digital course content more inclusive for all learners by automatically checking for accessibility issues and generating alternative formats that are engineered to work better with assistive technologies, mobile devices, and study tools. Ally also provides feedback to guide instructors on how to improve the accessibility of their course content and institution-wide reporting on course content accessibility to drive further improvements at the institution.

“By implementing Blackboard Learn with the Ultra experience, we are creating a consistent and rich teaching and learning experience for our students and faculty across these 11 colleges,” said Jimmy H. Baker, Chancellor of the Alabama Community College System. “I am confident that this decision is the right one and will continually raise the bar on the student experience.”

“We know that our holistic EdTech ecosystem, including Blackboard Learn with the Ultra experience, is the best choice for ACCS to enhance the teaching and learning experience for its students and faculty. We are pleased to continue our long-term relationship with the system to provide students with a high-quality learning experience,” said Lee Blakemore, Chief Client Officer, President Global Markets at Blackboard.
