Contracts Awarded to Blackboard Inc., Honor Lock, and at 24 Alabama Community College System Institutions 

MONTGOMERY – At a board meeting Tuesday, the Alabama Community College System (ACCS) announced their next steps in an ongoing effort to enhance the community college student experience.  The ACCS awarded three contracts that will create a consistent platform for all ACCS students through the use of a singular Learning Management System (LMS) as well as online proctoring tools and an online tutoring system across all 24 colleges.

This announcement follows the successful implementation of a single enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution which was the first transformational step taken by the ACCS to increase effectiveness, efficiency, and service delivery.

“For the first time, every ACCS student, regardless of whether they attend in-person or online, will have access to a uniform student experience at each of our 24 colleges,” said Jimmy H. Baker, Chancellor of the Alabama Community College System. “We are committed to continually raising the bar on the student experience and today’s announcement is a significant step forward in those efforts.”

The ACCS awarded Blackboard Inc., HonorLock and contracts to provide services across all campuses. Blackboard Learn will serve as the system’s primary LMS platform, while HonorLock will provide online proctoring and will provide online tutoring. The initial implementation of this effort is funded in part by CARES Act funding Governor Kay Ivey awarded to the ACCS in September.

Implementation is expected to be completed systemwide for the 2021-2022 academic year.
