Montgomery, Ala. — Tuesday, December 9, 2025 Trenholm State Community College is elated to announce its transformational plan and a major new partnership with Montgomery Public Schools (MPS) to expand Dual Enrollment course offerings for high school students across the district. Through this collaboration, MPS students will gain increased access to college-level courses delivered at Trenholm State’s Air Base Boulevard Campus—enhancing early college exposure, accelerating degree completion pathways, and providing students with high-demand workforce skills needed across the River Region. 

Through the expanded educational partnership, MPS will utilize Trenholm State’s Air Base Boulevard Campus as an instructional site, offering a full range of Dual Enrollment course options supporting academic, technical, and career-focused pathways for students pursuing college credit while still in high school. 

“As Trenholm State continues to expand its presence throughout the River Region, this partnership marks an important milestone in our ongoing commitment to providing students with meaningful, accessible pathways to higher education,” said Dr. Kemba Chambers, President of Trenholm State Community College. “By transforming our Air Base Boulevard location into an instructional site for MPS Dual Enrollment students, we are creating new opportunities for young scholars to build confidence, gain college credit, and explore career pathways earlier than ever before. This student-centered collaboration 

deepens Trenholm State’s investment in its community and strengthens the talent pipeline that will drive long-term growth across the River Region.

Montgomery Public Schools highlighted the collaboration as a strategic investment in student success and long-term academic outcomes. Dr. Byrd, Superintendent, Montgomery Public Schools, stated: “This partnership has a direct and meaningful impact on the future of our students and the River Region,” said Dr. Byrd. “This new campus will complement and expand the Montgomery Preparatory Academy for Career Technologies (MPACT), creating a place where students can train, earn certifications, and move directly into high-demand careers upon graduation. It strengthens our entire workforce pipeline and ensures our students leave MPS with the skills and credentials that matter most.” 

Through this expanded partnership, both parties are creating intentional and strategic robust college-to-career pathways that empower students to earn college credit, explore technical career fields, and build momentum toward postsecondary success
