Paths to Prosperity Scholarship

Purpose

The Alabama Community College and Paths for Success Foundation have partnered to offer the Paths to Prosperity Scholarship. This scholarship is available for Alabama residents to be applied toward qualifying educational expenses associated with enrollment and completion of a short-term credential program (for credit and non-credit) offered by institutions within the Alabama Community College System. The short-term credential program must be completed in two semesters and align with an in-demand occupation identified by the Alabama Committee on Credentialing and Career Pathways (ACCCP) in the region in which the community college where the course is taken is located. Eligible students will receive a scholarship up to $4,500 toward qualifying educational expenses associated with the short-term credential program, including tuition, fees, books, credentialing fees, materials, and supplies. The short-term training program must be completed within one year of the course start date to be eligible.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be an Alabama resident

  • Must intend to register in an eligible short-term credential program that can be completed in two semesters or less and that will lead to in-demand career opportunities in the region in which the community college where the course is taken is located 

  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Must complete the Post-Completion Survey, with failure to do so resulting in the student’s forfeiture of scholarship and repayment requirement of any funds paid on the student’s behalf. 

  • Must apply, receive approval, and agree to the scholarship terms and conditions electronically. 

Restrictions

  • A student may not receive more than one award until one calendar year after completing the short-term credential program for which the prior funds were awarded.
